Sport rocketry and RC aero modeling are aerospace engineering in miniature. These two popular hobbies and educational tools provide a safe and inexpensive way for young people to learn the principles of rocket & aircraft flight and have inspired two generations of America's young people to pursue careers in technology. Since their creation, sport rocketry and RC aero modeling have grown into worldwide hobbies with millions of flights per year. Their safety records are extraordinary good, especially compared to most other outdoor activities. Sports rocketry and RC aero modeling are recognized an permitted under Federal and all 50 states' laws and regulations. These safe and inexpensive products are available from South Texas Aerospace Club (STAC), on the world wide web and in hobby stores nationwide.
STAC holds monthly rocket and RC aircraft flying activities on the second Saturday of each month (weather permitting) at the Beeville Municipal Airport located at 3201 Highway 59W, just outside of Beeville, Texas. In May of 2015, Texas Hill Country Tripoli (THCT) teamed up with STAC making the Beeville Municipal Airport its home flying range. STAC supports low power rocketry, high power rocketry, RC propeller aircraft flight, RC jet aircraft flight and RC helicopter flight. Both STAC and THCT hold FAA class 2 rocket waivers for 17,500 ft. MSL at the Beeville Municipal Airport. Rocket launch equipment is on hand to support any flight from low power class 1 rockets to high power class 2 rockets. Rocket fliers are also welcome to bring their own launch equipment. NAR and Tripoli certification flights require making arrangements with STAC or THCT in advance. STAC monthly club meetings are held immediately after monthly flying activities.
In addition to our regular monthly club launches STAC also hosts special launches to support Scouts, Team America Rocketry Challenge teams, Civil Air Patrol, 4H clubs, and other educational programs.
